چکیده
Urban Growth and its Impact on land cover change in Akure South Local Government area was investigated to bridge the knowledge gap created by data deficiency nature, scope, magnitude of urban threat use/land type, most especially agricultural area. This done through analysis Landsat images three epochs from 2000 2010 2020. The processing satellite ArcGIS 10.8, while 2030 projection were Microsoft office excel using result analysis. QGIS used remove scan lines error image. showed increasing growth (built-up area), reducing vegetation farmlands, rock outcrops. changes vary among different classification characteristics. Both farmlands increased first epoch reduced second due man's urbanization other socio-economic activities. higher built-up areas outcrops throughout study period. research able assess farmland that have been converted for uses over time. It also proved efficiency Remote Sensing GIS technology studies.

Impact of urban land cover change on land surface temperature
The rapid growth in urban population is seen to create a need for the development of more urban infrastructures. In order to meet this need, natural surfaces such as vegetation are been replaced with non-vegetated surfaces such as asphalt and bricks which has the ability to absorb heat and release it later. This change in land cover is seen to increase the land surface temperature. Previous stu...
متن کاملGeospatial Analysis of Land Cover Change and Urban Sprawl Trend in Akure Region, Nigeria
Urban sprawl was conceptualized by Glaeser and Kahn [1] as unplanned expansion of urban areas which is characterized by low density physical development and non-existence of basic municipal infrastructure usually beyond urban fringes. Some early urban development researchers like Alonso [2], Mill [3] and Muth [4] attributed the emergence of sprawl to ‘mono-centric city model’, which suggests sp...

The rodents were trapped using locally fabricated traps. Body brushing technique was used to collect their ectoparasites. Blood samples from each rat were collected and examine using standard biological techniques. Specie of rodents c...
متن کاملUrban Land-Cover Change and Its Impact on the Ecosystem Carbon Storage in a Dryland City
Lack of research into the complexity in urban land conversion, and paucity of observational data of soil organic carbon (SOC) beneath impervious surface area (ISA) limit our understanding of the urbanization effects on carbon (C) pools in dryland cities. Employing Landsat TM images acquired in 1990 and 2010, a hybrid classification method consisting of Linear Spectral Mixture Analysis and decis...
